Matt Young

Matt Young, Executive Director/ Battery Caption Head/ Snare Technician and Ensemble Arranger

A native of Cumming, Georgia, Matt Young is the director of bands at West Side Magnet School in LaGrange, GA. Graduating from the University of West Georgia, Matt received a Bachelors of Music in Music Education and studied percussion pedagogy with Dr. Doug Overmier, and student taught with Alan Armstrong of the award winning Northgate High School band program. During college Matt was part of the University of West Georgia marching band, the UWG Wind Symphony, UWG percussion ensemble and the famous UWG Jazz percussion group and is a proud member of the National Honorary Band Fraternity, Kappa Kappa Psi. Throughout his marching carrier Matt has marched with Court of Honor Drum and Bugle Corps, Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps, Odyssey Percussion Theater, Atlanta CorpsVets Drum and Bugle Corps and the University of West Georgia Marching band. He has been an instructor all over the state of Georgia including such High Schools as Rome HS, Armuchee HS, Bowdon HS, Bremen HS, and Northgate HS. Matt has been the arranger for the University of West Georgia marching band (during the 2006 and 2007 seasons) Armuchee HS (2007,2008) Bremen HS (2007) and Northgate HS (2009). Matt is currently married to his wife Courtney Young and resides in Newnan, Georgia.


Chris Sink

Chris Sink, Visual Caption Head/Designer

A native of Stockbridge, Georgia, Chris Sink is the assistant director of bands at Northgate High School in Newnan, Georgia. Chris received a Bachelors of Music in Music Education degree from the University of West Georgia. Throughout his marching career, Chris has marched with such distinguished ensembles as Spirit from Jacksonville State University in 2004, and Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps in2005. Chris is a proud member of Kappa Kappa Psi, National Honorary Band Fraternity Inc., and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. Chris has taught, consulted and designed for many programs all over Georgia including Temple H.S., Pope H.S., Stockbridge H.S., Temple H.S., Lakeside H.S., and the University of West Georgia. Chris currently resides in Newnan, Georgia with his wife Kira Sink.



Cory Green

Cory Green, Tenor/ Upper Battery/Visual Technician

Cory Green returns to NGI Frequency for a second year as tenor, upper battery and visual technician for the 2010 season. Cory is a native of Pickens County, Georgia and is currently a Music Education major at Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, Alabama.  He has been playing tenors for around 10 years now.  Cory has marched with such groups as Pariah Marching Percussion Theatre (2003 - 2006, and 2008) where they received 2nd place in PIO at WGI Championships in 2003 and 2006, CorpsVets Drum &Bugle Corp (2006 and 2007) and with the JSU Marching Southerners (2008).  Cory went to school at Pickens H.S. and returned to teach there after graduating.  He has also arranged and/or taught with Cherokee H.S., Woodstock H.S., Woodstock Indoor Percussion Ensemble, Rockmart H.S., Jacksonville H.S. Indoor and was the tenor tech during the 2009 season with the Atlanta CorpsVets Drum and Bugle Corps. Cory currently resides in Jacksonville Alabama.


Armand

Armand Tyson, Bass/Battery/Ensemble Technician

A native of Brunswick, Georgia, Armand is currently a student at the University of West Georgia pursuing a degree in Music Education. He is a performer, clinician, and educator currently in the West Georgia/ Atlanta area. Armand has performed with many ensembles ranging from orchestras to drum and bugle corps. These ensembles include the Coastal Symphony of Georgia in Brunswick, Georgia, the Carroll Symphony Orchestra in Carrollton, Georgia, and the Coastal Georgia Community Concert Band. At The University of West Georgia Armand has performed in the Wind Symphony, Marching Band, Percussion Ensemble, and The University of West Georgia Jazz Percussion Group, which was selected to play in Hawaii, and in Antigua for the Prime Minister of Antigua in 2006 and 2007. Armand was also a member of Teal Sound Drum and Bugle Corps out of Jacksonville, Florida in 2004 winning the Division III Bronze Medal, and High Percussion Award. As an educator, Armand has instructed, arranged, and performed clinics for award winning indoor and outdoor programs in Georgia including Glynn Academy H.S, Brunswick H.S., Temple H.S., Haralson County H.S., Armuchee H.S., Villa Rica H.S., Callaway H.S., Bremen H.S.


Courtney Young

Courtney Young, Visual/Choreography Technician

A native of Cumming Georgia, Courtney is a recent graduate of the University of West Georgia, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology, and is now in pursuit of her masters in professional counseling also at the University of West Georgia. Courtney has been apart of many ensembles, including Court of Honor Drum and Bugle Corps (2003, 2004) as well as the Corpsvets Drum and Bugle Corps (2005, 2007, 2008). In 2004, Courtney was awarded the "Best Visual Member" award for Court of Honor and has since been awarded with "Most Outstanding Hornline Member" in the Corpsvets program. Courtney was once a member of the University of West Georgia marching band, where she was section leader her senior year, and a proud member of Sigma Alpha Iota. She has 13 years of dance experience, including ballet and jazz, and has danced with groups such as the Duluth School of Ballet, The Atlanta Ballet and the GCSU Dance Team. Courtney currently resides in Newnan, Georgia with her husband Matt Young.


JT Snell

JT Snell, Front Ensemble Technician

A native of Loganville, Georgia, J.T. is currently a student in the culinary arts program at Gwinnett Technical College. He has performed with such organizations as Court of Honor Drum and Bugle Corps (2004), Atlanta Quest Indoor Drumline (2005), Spirit Drum and Bugle Corps (2007), and Odyssey Percussion Theatre (2006, 2008, 2009). J.T. is the front ensemble instructor at Peachtree Ridge High School and Loganville High School.
